Right-hander Adam Plutko is making his 2019 debut after going 4-5 last season with a 5.28 ERA and 1.317 WHIP in 17 games (12) starts over 76 2/3 innings. He made two starts at Triple-A Columbus this year and allowed six runs with four walks in 5 1/3 innings.
Left-handers have hit .313/.374/.646 against Plutko in the majors and right-handers have hit .220/.267/.476.
In his only career start against the Orioles on Aug. 18, Plutko allowed three runs and three hits in seven innings in the Indians’ 4-2 loss. Jonathan Villar hit a three-run homer.
Villar’s three-run homer last night keyed the win.
