The Orioles will try to earn another series win this afternoon following last night’s 2-0 loss to the Mariners.
Dean Kremer’s seven scoreless innings lowered his ERA to 1.29, but the Orioles were held to one hit. Kremer has registered 18 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings.
Austin Voth makes his third appearance and sixth start today with the Orioles. He’s been stretched out to three innings and 47 pitches, and manager Brandon Hyde will try to bump him a little further.
Voth has allowed one run in a combined 5 2/3 innings in his two starts, and he’s struck out seven batters. He’s never faced the Mariners.
Adley Rutschman is catching after serving last night as the designated hitter. He stole his first career base.
Jonathan Araúz is the third baseman. Trey Mancini starts at first base, with Ryan Mountcastle switching to the DH role.
Austin Hays’ seven outfield assists are tied for second in the majors. All seven have come since May 5, and Hays leads the majors during that period.
The Orioles’ 17 outfield assists are tied for third.
An off-day Thursday is followed by a three-game series in Minnesota.
Seattle right-hander Chris Flexen is 3-8 with a 4.31 ERA and 1.422 WHIP in 14 starts. He hasn’t completed the sixth inning in four of his last five games.
Flexen went five innings in a June 2 game at Camden Yards and allowed three runs and six hits.
Taylor Trammell exited last night’s game in the fourth inning with a right hamstring strain.
Julio Rodríguez is one of eight players in history over their first 75 career games to record at least 75 hits, 10 home runs and 15 stolen bases. He joins Mitchell Page (1977), Ellis Burks (1987), Chris Sabo (1988), Nomar Garciaparra (1996-97), Juan Encarnacion (1997-99), Carlos Beltrán (1998-99) and Andrew McCutchen (2009).
Left-hander Robbie Ray, who had seven scoreless innings last night, is the first Seattle starter with 28 or more strikeouts while allowing no more than two runs in a four-game span since Félix Hernández in 2013.
