Orioles lineup vs. Rangers, plus pregame notes

Infielder Jordan Westburg remains out of the Orioles lineup for tonight’s series opener against the Rangers at steamy Camden Yards.

Westburg is day-to-day with a sprained left index finger.

Gary Sánchez is the designated hitter and batting fourth. That’s sort of like getting a break.

Coby Mayo is starting at first base.

Ramón Laureano is batting second for the first time this season.

Trevor Rogers makes his third start of the season after allowing three runs in 8 2/3 innings. He lasted only 2 1/3 in Tampa while surrendering the three runs.

Rogers has made two career starts against Texas and allowed six runs in 12 1/3 innings. Adolis García is 3-for-6 with a double and home run. Marcus Semien is 3-for-7 with a double.

Félix Bautista has faced 23 consecutive batters without allowing a hit, which is tied for the fourth-longest active streak in the majors, per STATS. It’s also the fourth-longest of Bautista’s career.

The longest for Bautista is 31 batters in a row.

The Orioles are 7-15 against left-handed starters and they’re facing veteran Patrick Corbin tonight. Corbin has a 3.91 ERA and 1.248 WHIP in 13 starts in his first season with the Rangers.

Corbin allowed three runs or fewer in his first 12 starts. Left-handers are batting .194/.267/.358 against him and right-handers are batting .265/.321/.435.

Corbin is 1-5 with a 5.21 ERA and 1.393 WHIP in nine career games against the Orioles, and he’s 0-4 with a 6.86 ERA and 1.619 WHIP in five games at Camden Yards, with 16 earned runs (17 total) in 21 innings.

Corey Seager was batting .300/.346/.520 in 26 games before going on the injured list in May with a hamstring strain. Since his return, he’s batting .147/.293/.213 with one home run and four RBIs in 21 games.

The Rangers have won three consecutive road series, the longest active streak in the majors.

The Orioles are 14-5 (.737) against the Rangers since the start of the 2022 season, their third-highest winning percentage against any opponent over this span after the White Sox at .783 and Angels at .769, per STATS. They’re 18-8 against Texas since 2021.
