The Orioles reinstated John Means from the 10-day injured list this afternoon and optioned reliever Cody Carroll to the alternate camp.
Carroll, who has faced nine batters and retired only one, left the ballpark shortly before 3 p.m.
Chris Davis and José Iglesias are out of the lineup. The Orioles aren’t explaining Davis’ absence. Iglesias, who had an RBI double last night, is dealing with some tightness in his quadriceps muscle.

Renato Núñez is the first baseman and Pat Valaika is replacing Iglesias at shortstop.
Dwight Smith Jr. is the designated hitter again. Cedric Mullins is in left field.
Núñez is 11-for-19 with four home runs lifetime against Yankees starter J.A. Happ. Hanser Alberto is 6-for-13 with a home run.
Means made five appearances against the Yankees last season, including two starts, and allowed 11 runs and 18 hits in 13 innings.
He worked out of the bullpen to face the Yankees in his first three outings of the season and held them to one run in 5 2/3 innings. Back-to-back starts in August were a struggle, with the Yankees scoring four runs in 3 2/2 innings and six in 3 2/3.
Means came off the injured list to make the first start.
The Orioles have lost 17 straight games to the Yankees dating to last season, matching the club record set against the Indians in 1954. They haven’t beaten the Yankees at home since July 10, 2018.
