DUNEDIN, Fla. – The Orioles began their day by optioning right-hander Jose Espada and left-hander Luis De León to minor league camp. The spring training roster is down to 47 players.

Espada didn’t allow an earned run in four innings. He surrendered one run, walked one and struck out four. He pitched for Team Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic.

MLB Pipeline ranks De León as the No. 4 prospect in the organization. He didn’t allow a run in 2 2/3 innings with the Orioles.

Blaze Alexander is in center field again today against the Blue Jays in Dunedin. He’s a backup option beyond the infield.

Dylan Beavers is leading off and playing right field, and Colton Cowser is in left.

Pete Alonso is the designated hitter, with Ryan Mountcastle playing first base. Jeremiah Jackson is at second base and Weston Wilson is at third.

Adley Rutschman is catching.

Albert Suárez hasn’t appeared in a Grapefruit League game since allowing seven runs and nine hits over 2 2/3 innings against the Cardinals in Sarasota. He signed a minor league contract and could be used in the rotation or bullpen with Triple-A Norfolk if the Orioles don’t have room for him.

Dietrich Enns and Yaramil Hiraldo are pitching in relief today.

Outfielder Ike Irish is on the trip.

The Blue Jays are starting left-hander Josh Fleming, who’s allowed two runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings in five relief appearances.
