The Orioles today announced that they have recalled outfielder Dariel Alvarez from Triple-A Norfolk, recalled left-handed pitcher Jayson Aquino from Double-A Bowie, placed infielder Pedro Alvarez on the bereavement list, and optioned left-hander Ariel Miranda to Triple-A Norfolk.
Dariel Ãlvarez, 27, hit .271/.309/.363 (88-for-325) with three home runs, 21 doubles, and 33 RBI over 82 games this season with Triple-A Norfolk. He made his Major League debut last season by hitting .241/.290/.370…
The Orioles today announced that they have recalled outfielder Dariel Alvarez from Triple-A Norfolk, recalled left-handed pitcher Jayson Aquino from Double-A Bowie, placed infielder Pedro Alvarez on the bereavement list, and optioned left-hander Ariel Miranda to Triple-A Norfolk.
Dariel Ãlvarez, 27, hit .271/.309/.363 (88-for-325) with three home runs, 21 doubles, and 33 RBI over 82 games this season with Triple-A Norfolk. He made his Major League debut last season by hitting .241/.290/.370 (7-for-29) over 12 games for the Orioles.
Aquino, 23, went 4-7 with a 3.25 ERA (29 ER/80.1 IP) and 55 strikeouts over 14 appearances (13 starts) with Double-A Bowie this season. He held hitters to a .269 (84-for-312) batting average this season while allowing 22 walks. Aquino was acquired by the Orioles on April 7 from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for cash considerations and has gone 36-44 with a 2.98 ERA (222 ER/671.1 IP) and 546 strikeouts over 113 career minor league appearances (111 starts) with the Colorado, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Baltimore organizations. Aquino’s first appearance with the Orioles will be his Major League debut. He will wear No. 64.
Pedro Ãlvarez, 29, has hit .242/.317/.461 (40-for-165) with nine doubles, nine home runs, 18 runs scored, and 26 RBI over 53 games with the Orioles this season.
Miranda, 27, made his Major League debut on July 3 at Seattle by striking out four batters over 2.0 innings. He compiled a 13.50 ERA (3 ER/2.0 IP) while allowing four hits in the outing.
