The Orioles recalled left-hander Trevor Rogers from the taxi squad to make tonight’s start against the Rays in Tampa, and reliever Grant Wolfram was optioned after spending one day with the team.

Rogers started Game 2 of a May 24 doubleheader in Boston and allowed two hits over 6 1/3 scoreless innings. He issued no walks and struck out five.

In four starts last season, Rogers threw first-pitch strikes at a 70.7 percent rate. The percentage was 81.8 against the Red Sox.

Rogers has made two career starts against the Rays and allowed four runs with 15 strikeouts in 12 innings. Yandy Díaz gets small-sample-size recognition for going 2-for-2 with a double and walk.

Rogers is working on five days’ rest tonight. 

A win tonight moves the Orioles within nine games of .500 for the first time since they were 15-24 on May 11.

Jordan Westburg has 10 hits, including two doubles and three home runs, in 26 at-bats since his reinstatement from the injured list. He also has eight RBIs.

The bullpen logged four scoreless innings last night and has posted a 1.76 ERA in the last 23 games, with 17 earned runs allowed in 87 innings.

The Orioles have drawn a walk in 150 games in a row, five short of the franchise record.

Another half-game was gained in the Wild Card standings, with the Orioles six behind for the last spot. 

The Orioles are 12-5 in their last 17 games and 10-5 this month. They face another right-hander, Taj Bradley, who’s registered a 4.35 ERA and 1.284 WHIP in 14 starts.

Bradley has recorded eight quality starts and his ERA was down to 3.95 on June 1 after allowing an unearned run over seven innings in Houston. He surrendered seven runs in four innings in his next start against the Marlins, but allowed five unearned runs over four innings against the Mets at Citi Field.

Left-handers are hitting .214/.305/.374 against Bradley this season and right-handers are hitting .250/.328/.381.

The Orioles have done well against Bradley in four matchups, totaling 14 runs in 19 1/3 innings. Gunnar Henderson is 4-for-12 with a home run and six strikeouts. Ryan O’Hearn is 4-for-9 with a double and home run.
