ARLINGTON, Texas – The Orioles announced their roster moves this afternoon, which includes the decision to option outfielder Henry Urrutia to Triple-A Norfolk.
The Orioles selected the contract of outfielder Dariel Alvarez from Norfolk and reinstated catcher Steve Clevenger from the paternity list. They optioned reliever Jorge Rondon to Norfolk after yesterday’s game in Kansas City.
Urrutia, 28, hit .265/.306/.382 (9-for-34) with a double, a home run and six RBIs in 10 games with the Orioles this season.
The Orioles are facing three left-handed starters in this series, which makes the right-handed hitting Alvarez more valuable than Urrutia, who gave up switch-hitting and bats only from the left side.
Still no lineup posted in the visiting clubhouse. Adam Jones has been put through a series of tests after leaving yesterday’s game and experiencing dizziness. He carried two bats out of the clubhouse a few minutes ago and is taking some swings.
