Orioles Place Alfredo Simon and Koji Uehara on Disabled List, Recall Alberto Castillo and Select Contract of Frank Mata from Triple-A Norfolk

The Orioles today announced that they have placed RHP ALFREDO SIMON and RHP KOJI UEHARA on the 15-day disabled list, recalled LHP ALBERTO CASTILLO from Triple-A Norfolk and selected the contract of RHP FRANK MATA from the Tides. To make room for Mata on the 40-man roster, the club has transferred LHP MICHAEL GONZALEZ to the 60-day disabled list.
Simon was placed on the DL with a left hamstring strain, retroactive to May 24. Mata was 2-1 with a 1.86 ERA (19.1IP, 4ER) and eight saves in 18 games for Norfolk this year. Signed by the Orioles as a minor league free agent last November, Mata will make his major league debut. Castillo has appeared in nine games in two previous stints with the Orioles this season. He is 1-0 with a 12.79 ERA (6.1IP, 9ER) in those outings.
Mata will wear uniform #50.
Justin Turner Claimed Off Waivers by New York Mets
The Orioles have also announced that INF JUSTIN TURNER has been claimed off waivers by the New York Mets organization. Turner was designated for assignment on May 21.
