Two more followed, including a two-run single to center field by Double-A outfielder Xavier Avery that cut Boston’s lead to 4-2. Avery was picked off first base by Red Sox reliever Alex Wilson.

Wilson Betemit, who walked to open the second, had been the Orioles’ lone baserunner before the fifth.

Ryan Adams came close to an extra-base hit leading off the fourth, but right fielder Cody Ross reached over his head to make a nice running catch.

Chris Tillman allowed three runs in the third inning, but only two were earned because of Flaherty’s error at shortstop. Tillman retired the side in order in the fourth. He’s charged with two earned runs and four hits, with one strikeout, in two innings.

Dylan Bundy has entered the game in the bottom of the fifth. A hush falls over the crowd.

OK, not really.

Update: Bundy walked one batter in a scoreless fifth. He threw 15 pitches, seven for strikes.

Bundy ran the count full to Jacoby Ellsbury before getting a ground ball. He walked Dustin Pedroia on four pitches and went 1-0 on Adrian Gonzalez before catcher Taylor Teagarden visited the mound. Gonzalez flied to center and catcher Luis Exposito flied to right.

Bundy’s fastball topped out at 97 mph. He was mostly 95-96 mph.
