Orioles recall right-hander Zach Clark and select contract of catcher Chris Snyder; Zach Britton optioned to Triple-A Norfolk

The Orioles today announced that they have recalled RHP Zach Clark from Triple-A Norfolk, selected the contract of catcher Chris Snyder and optioned LHP Zach Britton to Triple-A Norfolk. The club has also designated catcher Luis Exposito for assignment and reinstated RHP Steve Johnson from the 15-day disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk.
Clark, 29, is 1-2 with a 4.56 ERA (25.2IP, 13ER) in five starts with the Tides this season. Clark, 29, is 1-2 with a 4.56 ERA (25.2IP, 13ER) in five starts with the Tides this season. He went 15-7 with a 2.79 ERA (167.2IP, 52ER) in 28 games (26 starts) with Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk in 2012. The Delaware-born Clark attended University of Maryland-Baltimore County and will be making his major league debut when he appears in a game. Clark will wear #64.
Snyder, 32, was acquired in a minor league trade from the Angels on Sunday. He is a career .225/.329/.385 hitter in nine major league seasons with Arizona (2004-10), Pittsburgh (2010-11) and Houston (2012). He has thrown out 29% (141-488) of attempted base stealers in his career. Snyder batted .342/.388/.684 with seven home runs and 21 RBI in 21 games for Triple-A Salt Lake this season. Snyder will wear #48.
Britton, 25, made his first start of the season for the Orioles last night and took the loss (6.0IP, 6ER). He is 1-0 with a 1.98 ERA (13.2IP, 3ER) in three starts with the Tides this season.
Johnson, 25, was placed on the DL, retroactive to March 23, with a right lat strain. He went 4-0 with a 2.11 ERA (38.1IP, 9ER) in 12 games (four starts) for the Orioles last season.
Exposito, 26, did not appear for the Orioles in a two-game call up. He has played in 16 games for the Tides this season, batting .218/.254/.273 in 59 plate appearances.
