Pitcher Miguel Gonzalez was placed on three-day paternity leave to make room for Ishikawa on the 25-man roster. Infielder Yamaico Navarro was designated for assignment to create space for Ishikawa on the 40-man roster.
Ishikawa is wearing No. 45 with the Orioles.
The Orioles acquired Navarro from the Pirates on Nov. 30 for minor leaguer Jhondaniel Medina. He appeared in eight games, posting a .286/.333/.357 line with a triple and two RBIs. He also committed two errors.
Navarro was batting .254/.357/.353 with nine doubles, one triple, two homers and 13 RBIs in 49 games with the Tides. He committed 13 errors – 10 at shortstop and three at second base.
Infielder Brandon Waring is moving up from Double-A Bowie to Norfolk to fill a roster spot.
Note: Gonzalez could return to the team on Thursday in Toronto, while the Orioles are off, and start Friday night or Saturday afternoon. Jason Hammel would take the other turn, with Freddy Garcia likely to start on Sunday – unless Hammel needs another day to recover from his stomach virus.
