The Orioles today announced that they have selected the contract of infielder Paul Janish from Triple-A Norfolk and placed catcher Steve Clevenger on the paternity list.
Janish, 32, batted .235/.313/.272 (71-302) with seven doubles, two triples, 21 RBI, and 29 runs scored in 95 games with the Tides this season and led International League shortstops with a .990 fielding percentage (four errors, 407 total chances). Janish, 32, batted .235/.313/.272 (71-302) with seven doubles, two triples, 21 RBI, and 29 runs scored in 95 games with the Tides this season and led International League shortstops with a .990 fielding percentage (four errors, 407 total chances). In 431 career Major League games, Janish has hit .214/.284/.288 with 55 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, and 81 RBI. Over 344 career Major League games (2430.2 innings) at shortstop, he has committed just 22 errors, posting a .983 fielding percentage. He will wear No. 15.
Clevenger, 29, batted .391/.417/.543 (18-46) with four doubles, a home run, and seven RBI in 13 games with the Orioles this season, including a current career-high eight-game hitting streak (.406/.441/.594, 13-32).
