The Orioles signed infielder Steve Tolleson to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. A team official confirmed the move, which first appeared in Baseball America’s minor league free agent tracker.
I’m told that Tolleson actually signed a few weeks ago, but it must have slipped under the radar. He’s always wanted to return to them and finally got his wish.

Tolleson appeared in 29 games with the Orioles in 2012 and has always been a favorite of manager Buck Showalter, who appreciates his versatility and work ethic. He provides infield depth with his ability to play second base, shortstop and third base. He’s also been used in the outfield.
There may not be room for Tolleson on the major league roster with Ryan Flaherty and Paul Janish, but he’s back in the organization.
Tolleson, 32, spent the past two seasons in the Blue Jays organization. He hit .253/.308/.371 in 109 games in 2014 and .268/.333/.439 in 19 games this year.
The Blue Jays twice designated Tolleson for assignment this season after he broke camp with the team. He also went on the disabled list with a groin injury in late May.
Tolleson was 13-for-71 with the Orioles in 2012, including three doubles and two home runs. He’s a career .245/.299/.372 hitter in 182 games over parts of four major league seasons.
Update: Tolleson just tweeted the following:
Thank you 2 the #bluejays 4 the opportunity, friendships, and memories over the last 2 years. Couldn’t B more excited 2 be back with the O’s
