Reliever Cody Carroll was placed on outright waivers, cleared them and will remain assigned to the alternate camp site in Bowie.
The moves leave the Orioles with only 37 players on the 40-man roster and 59 in the 60-man pool.

Carson Fulmer’s stay in Baltimore was brief.

The Orioles lost Fulmer today on a waiver claim by the Pirates after he made three relief appearances. He’s headed back to the organization that lost him on a waiver claim by the Orioles two weeks ago.

Reliever Cody Carroll was placed on outright waivers, cleared them and will remain assigned to the alternate camp site in Bowie.

Fulmer, the eighth overall pick in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Vanderbilt University, walked two batters and struck out four in 3 2/3 scoreless innings. He last pitched on Friday night against the Rays, tossed into a high-leverage, bases-loaded situation out of necessity in the seventh and keeping the deficit at one run in a game the Orioles lost 2-1.

Today marks the fourth waiver claim involving Fulmer this summer.

The Tigers selected him off waivers from the White Sox on July 25 and lost him to the Pirates on Aug. 24. The Orioles selected him on Sept. 5 and now he’s back with the Pirates.

Carroll-Delivers-Gray-sidebar.jpgCarroll, acquired from the Yankees in the Zack Britton trade in July 2018, has appeared in three games this season and allowed 12 runs and nine hits with five walks in two innings. His last outing came on Aug. 14 as the 29th man against the Nationals, who scored six runs off him in 1 2/3 innings.

Keegan Akin made his major league debut out of the bullpen in a 15-3 loss. Carroll couldn’t get out of the ninth and catcher Bryan Holaday made his fifth career pitching appearance.

The Orioles still have three players to be named later who are going to be identified – two from the Tommy Milone deal with the Braves and one from the Hector Velazquez trade with the Astros.
