The Orioles took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning on Nick Markakis’ two-out single that scored Blake Davis.
Davis singled and stole second with one out. Catcher Craig Tatum walked and J.J. Hardy popped up before Markakis came to the plate.
Tatum was thrown out at third base to end the inning, but not before Davis scored.

Update: Derrek Lee crushed a three-run homer to left field to give the Orioles a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning. The rally started when the Reds let Adam Jones’ pop up fall for a gift single.
Mark Reynolds increased the lead to 5-0 with his team-leading 14th home run. The ball traveled an estimated 443 feet.
See, he does good stuff, too.
Meanwhile, Alfredo Simon threw two scoreless innings today at Double-A Bowie on his injury rehab assignment. Simon, on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, allowed one hit, walked one and struck out three.
As I wrote earlier, the Orioles could activate Simon on Tuesday or wait until he appears in another minor league game.
The Baysox lead the Binghamton Mets, 1-0. Buck Britton tripled and scored on LJ Hoes’ sacrifice fly.
