The Orioles today announced they have acquired catcher CARLOS NARVÁEZ, minor league right-handed pitchers ANTHONY EYANSON and KYSON WITHERSPOON, minor league outfielder ENDDY AZOCAR, and a player to be named later or cash considerations from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for catchers ADLEY RUTSCHMAN and JAKE ROGERS and cash considerations. 

Narváez, 27, hit .187/.260/.275 (32-for-171) with six doubles, three home runs, 17 runs, 10 RBI, 14 walks, and one steal in 62 games with the Red Sox this season. He appeared in 118 games with Boston in 2025, slashing .241/.306/.419 (97-for-403) with 27 doubles, 15 home runs, 51 runs, 50 RBI, 38 walks, and one steal. The Maracay, Venezuela native made his MLB debut with the New York Yankees in 2024 and was traded to the Red Sox on December 11, 2024, in exchange for right-handed pitcher Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz and international bonus pool space. Narváez originally signed with the Yankees as an international free agent on July 2, 2015. He has not yet reported.

Eyanson, 21, was 4-0 with a 1.32 ERA (10 ER/68.1 IP) with 35 hits (4 HR), 11 total runs, 26 walks, one hit batter, and 94 strikeouts in 16 games (15 starts) between High-A Greenville and Double-A Portland this season in his professional debut. He was originally acquired by Boston in the third round of the 2025 First-Year Player Draft out of Louisiana State University. The Long Beach, Calif. native was ranked as a top 100 prospect by Baseball America (#33) and MLB Pipeline (#49) while being rated the No. 2 Red Sox prospect by both publications.

Azocar, 19, slashed .286/.341/.540 (105-for-367) with 27 doubles, six triples, 18 home runs, 76 runs, 63 RBI, 28 walks, and 11 stolen bases in 85 games this season between Single-A Carolina and High-A Greenville. His 51 extra-base hits are tied for seventh in the minors this year and among players under the age of 20 with at least 300 plate appearances this year, he ranks among minor leaguers in slugging percentage (3rd) and OPS (T-8th). The Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela native was originally signed as an international free agent on January 15, 2024. Azocar was ranked the fifth-best Red Sox prospect by Baseball America and MLB Pipeline.

Witherspoon, 21, was 3-5 with a 4.78 ERA (40 ER/75.1 IP) with 71 hits (10 HR), 44 total runs, 34 walks, six hit batters, and 78 strikeouts over 17 starts with High-A Greenville this season. He was originally selected with the 15th overall pick of the 2025 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Oklahoma. The Kansas City, Mo. native was ranked as a top 100 prospect by Baseball America (#97) while being rated the No. 3 Red Sox prospect by the publication and No. 4 Red Sox prospect by MLB Pipeline. 

Rutschman, 28, hit .251/.331/.433 (62-for-247) with 19 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 30 runs, 47 RBI, and 30 walks in 67 games with the Orioles this season. He was named to his third career All-Star Game, becoming the fourth catcher in Orioles history (since 1954) to earn multiple All-Star Game selections, joining Matt Wieters (4), Gus Triandos (3), and Andy Etchebarren (2). In 2019, he became the second Oriole in franchise history (since 1954) selected with the number one overall pick, joining right-handed pitcher Ben McDonald in 1989. In parts of five seasons with Baltimore, Rutschman hit .254/.342/.414 (540-for-2126) with 122 doubles, six triples, 69 home runs, 289 runs, 277 RBI, 285 walks (9 IBB), and six steals in 572 games.

Rogers, 31, went 1-for-5 with a walk in three games this season with the Orioles after being acquired from the Detroit Tigers for minor league right-handed pitcher Zane Barnhart on July 30.  He played parts of six seasons with the Tigers from 2019-26 after being acquired from the Houston Astros as part of the Justin Verlander trade on August 31, 2017.
