Though the Orioles are off today, they managed to swing a minor league trade involving Triple-A Norfolk catcher Chris Robinson.
Robinson has been dealt to the San Diego Padres for a player to be named later. He was batting .241/.268/.278 with four doubles and five RBIs in 29 games. He hadn’t played since June 9.
Robinson will report to the Padres’ Triple-A affiliate in Tucson.
Update: The trade is for cash considerations. No PTBNL.

The Orioles signed Robinson as a minor league free agent on April 4, 2012, and he batted .232/.298/.311 in 52 games with Norfolk last season.
The trade creates a roster spot for outfielder Trayvon Robinson, who will be activated from the seven-day disabled list. Robinson was put on the DL retroactive to June 7 with a thumb injury sustained while diving for a ball.
Chris Robinson will be remembered for inadvertently starting a benches-clearing brawl with Mexico while representing Canada in the World Baseball Classic.
Also, catcher Ronny Paulino has been transferred from the short-season Single-A Aberdeen roster and placed on Norfolk’s disabled list. The Orioles signed him last month after he was released by the Mariners in spring training.
And finally, Tides trainer Mark Shires has been named the trainer for the International League in the Triple-A All-Star Game.
