Tonight’s game between the Orioles and Twins has been postponed due to inclement weather.
The game will be made up Wednesday as part of a traditional, single-admission doubleheader. The opener starts at 12:05 p.m. because of another ominous forecast, and Game 2 begins approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion.
Gates open at 11 a.m. The games will be broadcast on MASN2.
Both teams can summon a 27th player.
The team also announced that original ticket buyers for tonight’s game should visit Orioles.com/Weather for more information. Tickets dated for Wednesday’s original 6:35 p.m. game will be valid for both games of the doubleheader.
This is the Orioles’ third postponement and second at home. They played a doubleheader in Detroit.
The Orioles didn’t post their lineup. Ryan Mountcastle has a 14-game hitting streak against the Twins. He owns a career .359 average and .654 slugging percentage against them.
The only other active major league players with at least a .350 average and .650 slugging against Minnesota in a minimum 50 at-bats are Randy Arozarena (.360, .667) and Freddie Freeman (.407, .667), per STATS.
Left-hander Cade Povich was supposed to get another shot tonight at the Twins, the team that traded him at the 2022 deadline. He allowed five runs in six innings in his last start at Target Field. Carlos Correa hit a two-run homer in the third.
Povich and Dean Kremer are expected to start the doubleheader.
Right-handers are hitting .322 with a .928 OPS against Povich this season, and left-handers are hitting .200 with a .565 OPS.
The Orioles are batting .189 with runners in scoring position, lowest in the majors. Their 26.6 percent strikeout percentage with RISP is the highest.
The Orioles will get another look at Twins right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson, who allowed two runs and five hits against them in 4 2/3 innings. Ramón Laureano hit a solo home run in the third.
Laureano is 3-for-6 with a double and homer against Richardson.
Richardson has a 2.40 ERA and .200 opponent average this season in day games. He has a 5.30 ERA and .333 opponent average at night.
A STATS fun fact: Richardson is tied for second-longest name in major league history behind Christian Encarnacion-Strand. He’s tied with Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez.
Right-hander Bailey Ober was scheduled to start Wednesday’s game.
The Twins have won eight in a row, including a three-game sweep of the Orioles last week, and improved to 21-20. They’re 6-14 on the road and haven’t posted a winning record away from home since 2019.
Minnesota’s 3.36 rotation ERA is fifth in the majors. The 3.27 bullpen ERA is eighth.
Double-A Chesapeake right-hander Patrick Reilly, the No. 10 prospect in the system per MLB Pipeline, was placed on the full-season injured list on Sunday. He exited his last start after a scoreless first inning and went on the seven-day IL with right elbow discomfort.
Outfielder Enrique Bradfield Jr., the No. 3 prospect, had his rehab assignment transferred from the Florida Complex League to High-A Aberdeen..
