They weren’t drafted by the Orioles or acquired in a trade from another team. They weren’t signed as free agents.
They don’t wear uniforms or play second base or bat leadoff or cleanup. They don’t occupy a spot on the 25-man.
In fact, they aren’t men at all. But they are connected with the Orioles and they do often have an impact on the city of Baltimore.

In fact, they aren’t men at all. But they are connected with the Orioles and they do often have an impact on the city of Baltimore.
“They” are the Orioles wives, the women alongside the players we recognize on the field, who frequently fill their hours giving back to charities in Charm City or to the foundations that bear their husbands’ names or faces.
During the first two games of this Red Sox series at Camden Yards, the Orioles wives will host a silent auction starting at 5:30 p.m. and running through the seventh inning of each game.
You’ll find the auction on the lower concourse near Gate D where items such as autographed game-used equipment, on-field experiences with select Orioles, and autographed jerseys from numerous Orioles and Red Sox players will be up for grabs for fans to bid on.
Proceeds from Monday’s auction will benefit the University of Maryland Hospital for Children, while proceeds from Tuesday will benefit The Nick Adenhart Memorial Fund, which was created earlier this year in memory of Adenhart after the Angels pitcher was killed in a car accident and which now provides financial support to youth baseball organizations.
Happy bidding, have fun, and feel better knowing that your money is going to a good cause!
