Orioles, Zach Britton avoid arbitration with one-year deal

And then there were none.

The Orioles avoided an arbitration hearing with closer Zach Britton, their lone unsigned player, by agreeing to a one-year, $6.75 million deal, a source has confirmed.

The left-hander's arbitration hearing had been scheduled for Feb. 17, after the sides couldn't come to an agreement. The Orioles had offered Britton $5.6 million, while Britton had countered at $7.9 million. The deal represents the midpoint between the two figures.

The 28-year-old Britton went 4-1 with a 1.92 ERA and 36 saves last season, leading the American League with 58 games finished and making his first All-Star team.

MLB Network's Jon Heyman first reported the deal.
