Orioles bags.jpgThe latest trade came late tonight when they acquired right-hander Aaron Myers, 23, from the Brewers and assigned him to Single-A Delmarva.

The Brewers signed Myers as an undrafted free agent in 2015 out of Longwood University in Farmville, Va. He’s 6-2 with a 2.63 ERA in 41 minor league games, with 28 walks and 106 strikeouts in 89 innings. Opponents are batting .202 against him.

Myers appeared in 17 games this season with Single-A Wisconsin and went 2-0 with a 4.37 ERA, 17 walks and 37 strikeouts in 35 innings.

Appearing in 17 games in 2016, Myers went a combined 4-1 with a 1.44 ERA and 0.78 WHIP in 43 2/3 innings at two rookie-league levels.

Myers set three strikeout records during his senior season at Longwood, where he graduated with a degree in physics.

Before Wednesday’s game in Milwaukee, the Orioles acquired 21-year-old shortstop Milton Ramos from the Mets in exchange for international signing bonus slots and assigned him to Delmarva.

Three days earlier, the Orioles used the bonus slots to obtain pitchers Jason Wheeler from the Dodgers and Matt Wotherspoon from the Yankees, respectively. They were assigned to Triple-A Norfolk.

The Orioles are the one team in baseball that didn’t announce any international signings, a philosophy that continues to leave them open to criticism within the industry and the media. They don’t view the cost as worth the risk and continue to use the slots as bargaining chips in trades.

Tonight provides the latest example.
