SARASOTA, Fla. – The Orioles made a minor league trade tonight, acquiring switch-hitting first baseman Mike McDade from the Rangers for future considerations.
The Orioles will assign McDade to Double-A Bowie, according to a team official.
McDade, 25, appeared in one exhibition game with the Rangers this spring and received one at-bat. The Blue Jays selected him in the sixth round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft out of Silverado High School in Las Vegas.
McDade is a career .261/.319/.407…

McDade is a career .261/.319/.407 hitter in eight minor league seasons, including seven in the Blue Jays organization. He split the 2013 season with the White Sox and Indians Triple-A affiliates.
The Rangers signed McDade to a minor league deal in January after he batted a combined .242/.298/.349 in 85 games with Double-A New Hampshire (78 games) and Triple-A Buffalo (seven games).
