Yovani Gallardo threw from 120 feet again this morning and manager Buck Showalter said it went even better than yesterday’s session. Pitching coach Dave Wallace, bullpen coach Dom Chiti, special assignment pitching instructor Ramon Martinez, head athletic trainer Richie Bancells and assistant athletic trainer Brian Ebel watched Gallardo throw.

Gallardo will throw bullpen sessions Sunday in Anaheim and Tuesday in Houston. He’s slated to pitch in his first simulated game on May 27.

The Orioles are starting Mike Wright, Kevin Gausman and Ubaldo Jimenez in the three-game series in Anaheim that begins Friday. The Angels are starting Hector Santiago, Matt Shoemaker and Jered Weaver.

Chris Tillman is 7-0 lifetime against the Mariners. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it’s the longest winning streak by an active pitcher versus the team that drafted him. He had been tied with Adam Wainwright, who won his first six decisions against the Braves.

Closer Zach Britton ranks first among relievers in groundball/fly ball ratio (13.00) and second in groundball percentage (74.3%) this season.
