Left-hander Tyler Alexander, the Tigers’ second-round pick in 2015 out of Texas Christian University, has a 4.80 ERA and 1.362 WHIP in 29 games (five starts). He’s allowed 57 hits in 50 2/3 innings.

Right-handers are batting .314/.353/.559 in parts of three seasons against Alexander. Left-handers are batting .214/.261/.312.

The Orioles faced Alexander in 2019 and were held to one run and four hits in six innings, providing his first major league win. Trey Mancini hit his 33rd home run.

John Means started that game, followed by Branden Kline and Ryan Eades.

Watkins and Alexander were teammates in four levels of the Tigers’ system.

Tigers rookie Eric Haase has seven extra-base hits, including five home runs, and 17 RBIs in his last 12 games. He’s one of five Tiger rookies with 18 or more home runs in a season, the most recent being Eric Munson in 2003.

Miguel Cabrera recorded his 2,942nd hit last night and 2,100th as a Tiger, putting him one away from tying Frank Robinson for 36th on the major leagues’ all-time list.
