Dr. James Andrews cleared Bundy last month to start a throwing program after the Orioles’ top pitching prospect was shut down with a sore right shoulder caused by calcification in the Teres minor muscle. His first bullpen session came on Oct. 7.
Bundy hasn’t appeared in a game since May 21 with Double-A Bowie. He’s recovered from ligament-reconstructive surgery on his right elbow in June 2013.
Bundy was 0-3 with a 3.68 ERA in eight starts with Bowie. He allowed 21 hits, walked five and struck out 25 in 22 innings.
Because Bundy is out of options, the Orioles will need to keep him on the 25-man roster next year or risk losing him on waivers.
