Ryan Mountcastle remains at first base. He had multiple hits and walks in a game yesterday for the second time in his career, the other June 28 in Houston.

Anthony Santander, in right field tonight, has posted a .295 average (13-for-44) with nine RBIs and 11 runs scored in his last 12 games.

The Orioles interrupt their streak of rookie starters by sending John Means to the mound. Means has allowed two runs in each of his last four starts over 24 innings.

Tonight marks Means’ first start against the Phillies, who are two games behind the first-place Braves in the NL East. They’re 42-32 at home.

Means took batting practice at Fenway Park to prepare for tonight’s game. He’s 1-for-3 with a walk over three seasons.

Mullins’ leaping catch to rob the Yankees’ Gary Sánchez of a home run was chosen as the Play of the Week in Major League Baseball. He’s the first Oriole to win the award since outfielder Stevie Wilkerson in September 2019.

The Orioles have lost eight of their last nine games after winning five of seven.

Phillies left-hander Ranger Suárez has posted a 1.50 ERA and 1.036 WHIP in 36 games this season, including nine starts. He’s averaging 9.2 strikeouts per nine innings and has surrendered only four home runs in 84 frames.

Suárez has allowed only five runs in his last five starts totaling 29 innings. Left-handers are 9-for-85 (.106) against him. Right-handers are slashing .220/.303/.318.

Tonight marks Suárez’s first appearance against the Orioles.
