Orioles notes and international signings

With Bud Norris listed among the Orioles' relievers today, it's more apparent that Kevin Gausman will remain in the rotation and take his next turn Tuesday night in Minnesota.

Gausman shut out the Rangers on four hits over 6 1/3 innings, with two walks and seven strikeouts, in Thursday night's 2-0 loss at Camden Yards. The Orioles want him building up innings while envisioning him breaking camp next spring in the rotation.

Matt Wieters, behind the plate today after serving as the designated hitter last night, is in a 4-for-32 slump over the last nine games. He has one double, a home run and eight strikeouts to lower his average to .238 with a .265 on-base percentage in 19 games.

Adam Jones has five hits in his last 32 at-bats over nine games to lower his average to .287.

Jones hasn't homered since June 11 against the Red Sox, a span of 12 games. He needs three more to tie Hall of Famer Frank Robinson (179) for eighth place on the Orioles' all-time list.

Chris Parmelee got off to a sizzling start after the Orioles purchased his contract on June 16, but he's 2-for-18 in his last six games with an at-bat.

Chris Tillman, who takes the mound today at U.S. Cellular Field, is 5-0 with a 1.03 ERA and five quality starts in his last six outings against the American League Central since April 6, 2014.

Tillman is tied with Ross Grimsley and Sammy Stewart for 19th on the Orioles all-time wins list with 51.

The Orioles are 16-22 on the road this season, 18-11 in day games, 11-11 in one-run games and 7-11 in two-run games.

The Orioles are 36-0 when leading after the seventh inning, but 0-33 when trailing after the seventh. They're 39-0 when leading after the eighth, but 0-34 when trailing after the eighth. They're 32-16 when scoring first and 10-22 when their opponent scores first. They're 4-27 when scoring fewer than four runs and 31-8 when out-hitting their opponent.

The Orioles reached agreement with 10 international players on Thursday. Here's the list:

Venezuela
Juan Alvarado, catcher
Fernando Ayala, catcher
Kipper Briendo, shortstop
Jose Sanchez, shortstop
Frank Gonzalez, outfielder
Wamach Males, outfielder
Carlos Mendez, catcher/first baseman

Dominican Republic
Bryan Ciriaco, third baseman
Marcos Estevez, outfielder

Cuba
Romero Reynier, outfielder

Last week, the Orioles signed Cuban first baseman Yaisel Mederos, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound right-handed hitter. He's viewed as being a plus-hitter with plus-power. The Orioles list him as being 25 years old.
