The 40-man roster remains full with Flaherty replacing Tejada.

Tejada’s removal from the 25-man roster was anticipated. He appeared in only two games this month, playing the ninth inning at shortstop and third base. He hasn’t batted since July 31, the day that the Orioles acquired Tim Beckham from the Rays.

Tejada batted .230/.293/.283 with six doubles and five RBIs in 41 games. He went 26-for-113.

The Orioles purchased Tejada’s contract from the Yankees on June 4.

Norfolk’s roster includes veteran Paul Janish, who’s retiring after the season, and infielder Luis Sardiñas. There is no shortage of shortstops.

The Orioles activated Rule 5 outfielder Anthony Santander from the 60-day disabled list yesterday and optioned outfielder Joey Rickard to Norfolk.
