On top of that, OriolesREACH, the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation and the Taylor Hooton Foundation hosted groups of local young athletes at Oriole Park today for the 2009 National Promoting a Lifetime of Activity for Youth (P.L.A.Y.) Campaign.
From 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today, players from the 13-15 year old division of the Baltimore RBI League spent the day learning about living an active and healthy life.
O’s outfielder Luke Scott and Orioles Head Athletic Trainer Richie Bancells also participated in Q&A sessions with the kids who received PLAY Pledge Cards to sign, promising to “remain active, make healthy decisions and avoid performance enhancing drugs.
Reminder
If you forgot to stop by the Orioles wives’ silent auction last night or if you’re only in town for tonight’s game, you still have a chance to bid on autographed game-used equipment, on-field experiences with select Orioles, and autographed jerseys from a variety of Orioles and Red Sox players.
The auction will take place again this evening near Gate D from 5:30 p.m. through the seventh inning. Proceeds from tonight’s bids will benefit The Nick Adenhart Memorial Fund.
On another note
The Orioles will welcome special guest Dominique Dawes tonight at Camden Yards. Dawes, a former U.S. Olympic gymnast and Maryland native, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before tonight’s Orioles game against the Red Sox.
