Needing another left-handed reliever in their bullpen, the Orioles have recalled T.J. McFarland from Triple-A Norfolk and optioned Oliver Drake to the Tides.
McFarland will join the Orioles tonight in Houston.
McFarland, 25, will begin his second stint with the Orioles this season. He went 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA in five appearances, allowing two earned runs (six total) and striking out eight over five innings.

Reliever Brian Matusz’s hearing on his appeal of an eight-game suspension is scheduled for today in Houston, and the Orioles must be prepared to insert another southpaw into their bullpen in his absence.
Drake (Navy) made five relief appearances and struck out seven batters over 7 2/3 innings while compiling a 3.52 ERA. The Orioles brought him to the majors for the first time on May 23.
Drake surrendered three earned runs in his last two appearances covering 2 2/3 innings, with three walks and three strikeouts.
