Machado, 22, is the youngest player in the majors to lead off a game with a homer this season, according to Elias. He did it last night in a 5-2 win.
Since the franchise moved to Baltimore in 1954, the only other Orioles player hit a leadoff homer at age 22 or younger is Paul Blair, who did it twice as a 21-year-old rookie in 1965.
Since April 29, the Orioles bullpen leads the majors with a 1.27 ERA (four earned runs in 28 1/3 innings) and .140 opponents batting average.
Update: The MRI on Kevin Gausman’s right shoulder came back clean, and the right-hander will remain with the Orioles for now. He hopes to start throwing later this week.
