Just a few minutes after he became the fourth Oriole ever to hit for the cycle, Felix Pie was in the O’s clubhouse issuing an apology to Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia.
Apparently, right after Pie hit a two-run triple in the 7th to reach the cycle, he was gesturing toward the O’s dugout. Scioscia, out to remove his pitcher, saw it and didn’t like it.

“I’m sad because I showed too much emotion on the field,” Pie said. “I apologize, but it was too much emotion, I apologize to Mike Scioscia and the players on the other team.”
Pie said hard work before games with hitting coach Terry Crowley has been paying off.
“Every day I’m with Crowley, he’s helped me a lot.”
Pie got a curtain call tonight from the crowd.
“”Wow, man, that was an unbelievable time, I’ll never forget it. Good feeling.”
Pie got off to a very slow start this year and now is relegated to the bench. After all that, he has improved his offense and tonight had one special night.
“When the season started I struggled as things were wrong with my swing. The manager and hitting coach here believed in me and said I could do it. I try to hit early every day with Crowley. Now I know I am the fourth outfielder so I have to do my work every day and be ready.”
