Play ball

We're a few minutes away from the first pitch. Nothing wrong with starting two hours late. I'm told that Cole Hamels was supposed to pitch in a B game today, but the rain forced its cancellation. He'll follow Jamie Moyer to the mound in the regular game. Trembley met with closer Mike Gonzalez last week to make sure he could count on the left-hander for Opening Day. "I said, 'Hey, I need to know that when I go to bed at night, I'm going to sleep a little bit better knowing that you're going to be ready to go on April 6.' And he said, 'Dave, don't worry about it. I'll be ready to go April 6.' "I said, 'OK, so now what I need you to do is you need to start getting into some games for me and you need to make a couple trips, and I'll trust what you're telling me is, in fact, going to occur.' And he said, 'Dave, I'll give you everything I've got April 6.' "I said, 'Mike, no problem. Here we go.'" I need to apologize to one of my readers for accidentally killing his comment while attempting to clean out the spam. (I believe it was Arnie, though I only took a quick glance at the name before it vanished). I know it included mention of the Bastardo jersey. Please file it again and I'll make sure to post it.
