So how much does tonight’s loss hurt, after the Orioles bolted to a 4-0 lead in the second inning?
“They all hurt,” interim manager Juan Samuel told reporters. “We are trying to win as many games as we can. They all hurt. After scoring those four runs, we thought, ‘OK, we could add,’ but we’ve been in that situation before many times. They all hurt.”

“No, no, I just wanted Wieters to bunt there,” Samuel said. “That was my decision. That’s what I wanted to do.”
Left-hander Brian Matusz gave up two home runs in the third inning, raising his total to nine in his last seven starts.
“Like I’ve been saying, these are young guys and they’re learning up here. I’m sure he’s learning,” Samuel said.
“We’ve seen him make some pitches down and away. Unfortunately, he left those pitches up. But those guys are learning and they’re trying to make pitches.”
