TORONTO – Orioles manager Buck Showalter said that right-hander Dylan Bundy’s next start has been set for Saturday at home against Tampa Bay. Bundy would be pitching on six days’ rest after facing the Rays last Saturday at Tropicana Field.

A complicating factor is that Chris Tillman’s wife is expecting a baby any day now. Tillman could leave the club at any time and the rotation plans may have to be changed.

For now, Bundy is getting a couple of extra days between starts, but that could be reduced.

“That gives him two extra days. But if Chris Tillman’s wife needs him there, he might pitch differently,” Showalter said. “He knows all about this. He took a light workday today. In fact, he (Bundy) is going to fly home Thursday in case Chris has to leave the club to be ready to pitch on Friday. We are trying to get ahead of all this. We just have to be prepared if he (Tillman) walks in and says, ‘I’ve got to go.’ We are.

“We’ve got it mapped out through about the middle of September. We looked at it. If he (Bundy) averages X-number of innings, how many innings he would have and how many starts he would have? Kind of see where we are in September. But we do that with all our guys. In fact we are looking at (Kevin) Gausman some, too, along the same lines.”

Those will be with three different affiliates. Britton is scheduled to pitch Thursday in an 11:05 a.m. game with Double-A Bowie, then for Single-A Frederick on Friday and with Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.

That would set Britton up to rejoin the Orioles on Wednesday, July 5 at Milwaukee. Britton threw an inning for Bowie last night and gave up two hits and one run, throwing 18 pitches.

Rehabbing first baseman Chris Davis was with the Orioles for the games in St. Petersburg over the weekend and stayed in Florida to continue his rehab in Sarasota. Showalter said Davis had a good day today. Ryan Flaherty, rehabbing his right shoulder in Sarasota, is still not throwing, but Rule 5 outfielder Anthony Santander has started throwing again. Santander has been on the DL retroactive to March 30 with a right forearm strain.
