Jake Arrieta has allowed three runs and three hits, with four walks, in four innings. He’s also committed an error and hit a batter.
If there’s a race for the Orioles’ rotation, Chris Tillman appears to have passed him.
Double-A Bowie’s Steve Johnson has held Richmond to one hit over four scoreless innings, with three walks and five strikeouts.
Update: Miguel Abreu hit a grand slam. Johnson has a one-hit shutout through five innings, with four walks and six strikeouts.
Single-A Frederick’s Billy Rowell is 1-for-2 with two RBIs. He’s batting .308.
Earlier today, Steven Bumbry went 2-for-3 with a double, walk and run scored in Single-A Delmarva’s 4-3 loss to Charleston. He’s batting .306.
Tyler Kelly went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Former Orioles update:
Jay Gibbons is batting .386 in 23 games with Triple-A Albuquerque, with eight doubles, one triple, six homers, 21 RBIs and a 1.121 OPS. He’s 5-for-9 with two homers vs. left-handers.
Triple-A Memphis left-hander Rich Hill is 1-2 with a 5.06 ERA in six games, the last two in relief. He’s allowed 23 hits, walked 17 and struck out 25 in 26 2/3 innings.
Hill is 1-2 with a 5.16 ERA in four starts, with 18 hits allowed, 16 walks and 20 strikeouts in 22 2/3 innings.
Triple-A Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre catcher Chad Moeller is batting .200 with a double in six games. He’d be seeing a lot more time behind the plate at Norfolk.
