During the Red Sox’ recent run of eight wins in nine games, the Sox starting pitchers were tremendous pitching to an ERA of 0.88 during that stretch.
They had given up just six earned runs over 61 1/3 in the nine games. Tonight, Boston starter Clay Buchholz allowed four earned runs over 6 2/3 versus the Orioles. Buchholz entered with a career ERA of 2.98 against Baltimore and it went up to 3.26 tonight.

Boston pitching gave up just five runs total in its four-game sweep of Los Angeles and they have given up four runs so far tonight.
Over his previous four start versus the Orioles before this game, Buchholz had allowed just one earned run over 28 innings versus the Orioles for a 0.32 ERA. That is not a misprint.
A win tonight would be just the third in the last 14 games for the Orioles and a loss would be just the second in 10 games for Boston.
