Darren O’Day felt good after throwing off a half-mound yesterday and will throw a regular bullpen session on Saturday.
Vance Worley will follow Jason Garcia to the mound Saturday night at Double-A Bowie.
Caleb Joseph could join the Orioles in San Diego and come off the disabled list for Wednesday afternoon’s game if he feels good catching Monday night at Single-A Frederick.
Joseph would travel on Tuesday.
“He’s been catching bullpens for a while now. His legs are fine,” said manager Buck Showalter.
Brian Duensing underwent surgery today to remove two fragments from his left elbow. He’s headed to Sarasota this weekend to begin his recovery and rehab.
T.J. McFarland will be added as the 26th player for both games of Saturday’s doubleheader, as long as there isn’t an injury tonight that necessitates a second roster move.
Pitching coach Dave Wallace went home for a few days and bullpen coach Dom Chiti is moving into the dugout as his replacement. Minor league infield coordinator Dave Anderson is serving as bullpen coach for the Rays series.
The Orioles will travel to San Diego after Sunday’s game to give the team a full off-day on Monday. The two-game series begins on Tuesday.
“It’s an added expense that ownership let us do,” Showalter said. “Hopefully, everyone gets their (body) clocks adjusted.”
