Jason Berken replaced Jeremy Accardo with no outs and a full count on Robinson Cano, who lined a double to right field to extend his hitting streak to 16 games against the Orioles.

With Nick Swisher batting, catcher Matt Wieters tried to pick off Cano at second base. By the time Andino caught the ball, spun around to fired to third baseman Mark Reynolds, Cano was able to slide in safely for the stolen base.

Swisher struck out and Jorge Posada was given an intentional walk to put runners on the corners with one out. Russell Martin, who homered twice last night and was 0-for-3 with a walk today, reached on an infield hit, and Andino compounded Berken’s problems by throwing the ball away while going for the force at second after a diving stop.

Cano scored, Martin got his 16th RBI and the Orioles trailed again.

I would have drilled Martin between the numbers.

OK, not really.

Derek Jeter’s two-out infield hit brought home another run, and Mark Reynolds committed the Orioles’ second error of the inning by throwing the ball away after a barehanded grab.

The misery continued when Curtis Granderson bounced an RBI single to the right side, the ball deflecting off Brian Roberts’ glove as he made the diving attempt.

Yankees 6, Orioles 3.

Berken gave up a season-high three earned runs – including two homers – in 1 1/3 innings last night. Three more scored against him today, two earned, though the two errors didn’t do him any favors. Neither did the infield hits.
