The Orioles scored four runs in the ninth, the first two on another Rhyne Hughes home run, but the Tigers posted a 9-5 victory in Lakeland. Jeff Salazar followed Hughes' blast with a single, and Craig Tatum and Pedro Florimon walked before the Tigers yanked reliever Jay Sborz. Ground balls by Matt Angle and Miguel Abreu produced two more runs, but Michael Aubrey lined to center for the final out. Here's manager Dave Trembley on Kevin Millwood: "Millwood made some good pitches and they got hit, and he made some bad pitches and they got hit. He didn't use his curveball today. He just wanted to use his fastball and changeup. He got his pitches up. I would have liked to get him through the inning so he at least could get two, but it didn't happen, so we'll just go the next time and try to stretch him out somewhat." Trembley on Millwood's desire to work on his changeup and not worry about the results: "I would think that a guy who's pitched as long as he's pitched...what we're trying to do is get him ready for the season. He's got his own routine he goes through. I've got no problem with that." Trembley on Nolan Reimold: "He had two at-bats. I have to see them on tape. He didn't chase bad pitches. We've told him not to be full-speed. We've told him to take it easy coming out of the box. I told him I had a guy prepared. If he had gotten on his second at-bat, somebody was going to run for him, so that's all been pre-planned." Trembley on Aubrey's quality at-bats: "He had a few yesterday against live pitching because he faced both Bergesen and George in the live BP session, so he had about five or six there. Then he got one in the game last night and picked up a few today, so we'll try to catch him up." Trembley on Matt Albers: "He did have some ground balls, he did have some sink. He was better. I would say he was better. Meredith faced all left-handed hitters and got them out. I liked that, as well."
