Texas is second in the AL in runs scored (42), third in batting average (.284), tied for first in homers (13) and first in team OPS (.957). The Rangers’ slugging percentage of .603 leads MLB.
Texas, which is beginning a nine-game road trip in Baltimore, has led after 32 of its last 35 innings and after 46 of 53 innings on the year.
Texas is playing its first road game tonight. The Rangers are just 2-9 in road openers since 2000. When they play the first road game in Baltimore, the Rangers are 3-1. They won in 1993, the last time they played their road opener in Baltimore.
The Orioles won the season series from Texas, 6 wins to 4 last year but Texas is 32-26 vs. the Birds since 2005. The clubs meet just six times this season.
While tonight’s scheduled Rangers starter, Colby Lewis is 5-0 with an ERA of 2.28 over his last seven starts, he is 0-2 with a 6.14 ERA in four career games, two starts, versus Baltimore.
Josh Hamilton, who is a career .340 hitter against the Birds, is 7-for-14 over his last three games versus Baltimore with two homers and 7 RBI. Vladimir Guerrero was with Texas last year and hit .300 with 29 homers and 115 RBI, but he hit just .220 without a homer in 15 postseason games as Texas lost the World Series to the Giants.
