I couldn’t decide whether to make the trip to Port Charlotte or stay back and watch Kevin Millwood and Chris Tillman pitch in minor league games.
Chad Moeller was waiting to meet with president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail when I finally left the clubhouse and headed for my car. I decided to stick close to manager Dave Trembley, though it’s probably not necessary.
A few roster moves haven’t been made official, but we know what’s coming.
Koji Uehara will go on the disabled list at some point. Kam Mickolio will join him or be optioned to Triple-A Norfolk.
The final 25-man roster must be submitted to the MLB office no later than Sunday afternoon. We could save the Orioles some time and do it now.
Update: Nevermind. I just filed this entry and saw that the Orioles acquired Julio Lugo for a PTBNL, pending approval from the commissioner’s office. So I really should have stayed behind.
Lugo will become the utility infielder. Robert Andino is out of options, and he’s apparently off that 25-man roster I discussed above.
