Reimold hasn’t joined the team in Boston, according to executive vice president Dan Duquette. More information will become available later today – including whether Reimold could be headed to the disabled list – after manager Buck Showalter meets with reporters during batting practice at Fenway Park.
Reimold took a train out of New York following the first game of the series because of tingling in his fingers that figured to be related to the neck stiffness that previously had bumped him from the lineup. Showalter was hopeful that Reimold would make it to Boston in time for tonight’s game.
A team physician prescribed a Medrol Dosepack, an anti-inflammatory which requires a few days to alleviate the problem.
Reimold is batting .313 with five homers and 10 RBIs in 16 games.
Note: Brian Roberts worked out on the field again before batting practice, but he did more than hit in the cage and field ground balls.
As part of his progression, Roberts simulated turning a double play by taking throws at second, making the relay and hopping over an imaginary runner. Later, he simulated stealing bases by breaking from first and sliding into second. No diving.
