Outfielder Nolan Reimold boarded a train back to Baltimore this morning after complaining of a tingling sensation in his fingertips. Head athletic trainer Richie Bancells checked out Reimold and recommended that he be examined by team physicians.

The discomfort is believed to be related to the neck stiffness that recently kept Reimold out of the lineup.

“Basically, he had some tingling in his fingertips after last night’s game,” manager Buck Showalter said. “There could be something compressing against a nerve, like you’d get with a spasm. I don’t know, but he’s getting it checked out. It could be something cervical. There’s only one way to find out.

“I’m hoping they’ll check him out and get him back here.”

Endy Chavez has been used as a pinch runner the past two games, but he’s been receiving treatment for a sore oblique. He’ll likely take Reimold’s spot in left field tonight.

Showalter confirmed Reimold’s condition during a morning interview on the MLB Radio Network.

Meanwhile, hitting coach Jim Presley passed a second kidney stone while being hospitalized overnight. He had left the team once, and it’s not known whether he’ll miss tonight’s game.
