Nolan Reimold’s two-run double to right in the bottom of the eighth broke the 5-5 tie. Chris Davis doubled with one out for his third hit of the day and two walks – one intentional – loaded the bases for the O’s left fielder. He drove in three on the day.

The Orioles ended a five-game losing streak to the Dodgers that dated to 2004 and this was the first Dodgers game in Baltimore since 2002. The Orioles are now 9-7 with six wins over the last nine games. Los Angeles is 7-9 with five straight losses.

Jason Hammel rebounded from a shaky start to pitch six innings today. He gave up a three-run homer in the first to Andre Ethier and was behind 4-0 after two innings and had thrown 51 pitches. It was also the fourth time in four games on this homestand, the O’s had allowed a first-inning homer.

But Hammel kept Los Angeles off the board after that and gave up seven hits and four runs, throwing a season-high 113 pitches.

Making the fourth start of his rookie season, Dodgers lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu gave up eight hits and five runs over six innings allowing homers to J.J. Hardy (two-run shot) in the second and Reimold (solo homer) in the fourth.

Darren O’Day got the win and Jim Johnson pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to record his seventh save in seven chances.

The attendance for Game 1 of the split doubleheader, on a sunny but chilly afternoon, was 26,811.

In Game 2 of the twin bill at 7:05 p.m. Wei-Yin Chen (0-2, 4.00 ERA) starts against Josh Beckett (0-2, 3.26 ERA).
