Lefty Jo-Jo Reyes, coming off an outing where he gave up just one run in six innings against Minnesota, got hammered tonight by his former team as Toronto routed the Orioles 13-0 at Camden Yards.

Reyes gave up eight hits and seven runs over 2 2/3 as his O’s ERA jumped from 4.57 to 6.66.

O’s starters were 6-2 with an ERA of 3.09 and six quality starts over the previous nine games and the Orioles team ERA was 2.74 in the nine…So much for the recent good run of Orioles’ starting pitching.

Toronto had 20 hits to Baltimore’s four and 10 went for extra-bases with six doubles and four homers. The Blue Jays led 11-0 after four innings in improving to 68-68 on the year and 9-5 against the Orioles.

This was not the most lopsided O’s loss of the year. That distinction was the 14-run pounding by a 17-3 loss to the Yankees on July 30 in Game Two of a doubleheader.

The game featured Zach Phillips, the 24-year-old lefty called up today from Triple-A, making his Orioles and major league debut. He pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

To prove the night was just about a total loss, both J.J. Hardy and Mark Reynolds went without a hit as Hardy’s 13-game hitting streak ended and so did Reynolds’ 10-game run.

Remember, Thursday’s game starts at 12:35 p.m. Tommy Hunter (3-2, 4.98) is the scheduled Orioles starter and is set to face lefty Luis Perez (3-2, 3.29).
