Jo-Jo Reyes, making his first start with the Orioles, retired the side in order in the top of the first inning. Paul Konerko worked Reyes for nine of the left-hander’s 16 pitches before lining to left field.

Carlos Quentin led off the second with a 390-foot home run, ending Reyes’ bid for a perfect game. Reyes retired the next two batters, but he walked Brent Lillibridge and gave up back-to-back singles to the eighth and ninth hitters in Chicago’s lineup, Gordon Beckham and Brent Morel.

Nothing good ever happens after a walk, in case you hadn’t heard.

Reyes’ pitch count climbed to 38 through the second inning.

Meanwhile, Gavin Floyd has retired the first six Orioles that he’s faced, continuing a recent trend. Opposing pitchers have been perfect for five, three, two and two innings over the past four games. And Floyd’s streak is still alive.

The Orioles are now 0-for-36 in the second inning in their last 12 games.

Update: The White Sox scored another two-out run in the third to increase their lead to 3-0. Alexei Ramirez led off with a walk (nothing good happens), the next two batters lined to third and A.J. Pierzynski lined an RBI double to right.

Mark Reynolds made a spectacular diving catch to rob Paul Konerko for the first out. Highlight material.

Update II: Morel homered with, you guessed it, two outs in the fourth inning. White Sox 4, Orioles 0.

Morel has two home runs this season. Estimated distance on this one: 420 feet.

Update III: Reyes is done after four innings. He allowed four runs (two homers) and five hits, walked two and struck out none. He threw 69 pitches, 43 for strikes.

Chris Jakubauskas has replaced Reyes.
