His key two-run double Thursday night provided the O’s with a three-run lead. Today, he blasted a second inning, three-run homer to provide Zach Britton with an early 4-0 cushion vs. unbeaten Texas.
Reynolds’ first O’s homer traveled 422 feet to left. He is known for hitting some tape-measure shots. His last homer came August 31st for the Diamondbacks versus San Diego.
Reynolds now ties Brian Roberts for the team lead with eight RBI.
He is also now a pretty remarkable 5-for-6 when batting with runners in scoring position. Reynolds came up with men on first and third and no outs in the second against Colby Lewis. So he is batting .833 with RISP and is just 1-for-16 when there are no runners in scoring position.
The O’s have hit two homers in this game already and now have seven on the year. Three of those have been three-run shots.
They are trying to hand Texas its first loss and deny the Rangers a 7-0 start, which would tie their club record set in 1996.
