The Orioles took three of four in the series, winning a four-game series at Boston for the first time since August 8-10, 2003. It’s also the first time this season that the Orioles have won three consecutive series.

Boston has lost 12 of its past 15 games and is just 5-16 in September.

The O’s entered the eighth tied at 4-4. With one out, J.J. Hardy singled and Nick Markakis doubled. After Alfredo Aceves replaced Josh Beckett, Guerrero greeted him with a tiebreaking single.

Mark Reynolds hit two homers for the Orioles, producing three runs. He hit a solo shot in the second and his two-run shot in the seventh tied the game, 4-4. Those were homers Nos. 35 and 36 for Reynolds, the most by an Oriole since Albert Belle hit 37 in 1999.

Reynolds last two-homer game was August 7 against Toronto. He has five multi-homer games on the year and 14 in his career.

Reynolds became the eighth different player in Orioles history to hit 35 or more homers in a season.

Guerrero’s two-run single was his only hit in four at-bats. He is now batting .366 during a 10-game batting streak. Over his last 16 games, Guerrero is batting .403 (27-for-67) with two homers and 10 RBIs.

Orioles starter Tommy Hunter gave up four runs and nine hits over 6 2/3 before leaving due to a right groin strain. Beckett allowed six runs over 7 1/3 innings. It’s the fifth time in 29 starts he gave up three or more earned runs.

Jim Johnson pitched the ninth to record his third save in three days, his seventh in the last two weeks and ninth on the season.

The Orioles have won seven of nine and 10 of their last 15 games. They are 18-13 since August 22nd, 6-9 against Boston and 65-90 on the year. The Orioles begin a four-game series in Detroit on Thursday night.
